- What are the key differences between the old LMIL data distribution system and the new FTSE Global Distribution Service?
The current LMIL data distribution system is only operational from 06:30 to 22:00 GMT and is not operational on some UK public holidays. In addition there are bandwidth limitations and restrictions on the number of real-time indices that can be disseminated via LMIL.
FTSE Global Distribution Service will facilitate distribution of our products via the major cities around the world, covering all of the major markets (500 cities in over 120 countries).
The system will extend the operative hours so the real-time distribution of FTSE indices will be available around the clock in all financial markets worldwide.
The new system will also remove the current bandwidth limitations of LMIL. - What are the benefits/advantages of the new system?

Clients will be able to access FTSE's real-time indices in all markets at any time throughout the trading day.
The new FTSE Global Distribution Service provides 24x7 Help Desk services around the globe.
Flexibility with protocols on offer including the availability of XML to assist with client integration. - How is the FTSE Global Distribution System Delivered?
FTSE have selected Radianz's leading global financial extranet, RadianzNet, to provide the Internet Protocol (IP) network connectivity for the FTSE Global Distribution Service.
Radianz is the world's largest global financial extranet. They currently have 7,500 members (expected to rise to 12,000 this year), encompassing brokers, dealers, traders, institutions, investment banks, asset and fund managers, and sales people. These members receive data from around 90 data providers using the RadianzNet extranet. - How does Radianz fit in with the existing system?
The FTSE Global Distribution Service delivered over RadianzNet will replace distribution over the existing LMIL system, which will cease to disseminate FTSE real-time indices on 7th May 2004

The FTSE Global Distribution Service will carry all real-time FTSE indices.
- Which clients will be affected?
All data vendors and distributors of FTSE Index Data, currently receiving data via LMIL, in all markets.
- How can clients receive the FTSE Index Data?
All data vendors and distributors may choose to obtain a real-time or delayed data feed directly from the FTSE Global Distribution Service.
All data vendors and distributors may choose to obtain a real-time or delayed data feed via a Licensed Market Data Vendor or Sub Vendor. - When will the FTSE indices cease to be distributed down LMIL?
LMIL distribution system will cease distribution of FTSE data on the 7th of May 2004.
